Northern Yarn is an independent wool shop based in Lancaster, with a strong focus on natural fibres from British producers and selected yarns from further afield. Northern Yarn carries its own 100% traceable line, processed from local flocks of sheep, owner Kate Makin visits local farms and gets to know the shepherds and sheep, before hand picking the best fleeces for their blends and paying farmers a fair price for the wool.
Northern Yarn take pride in being a team of avid crafters - who make sure they know and sample their yarns (purely for research purposes!) to be in the best position to recommend the right yarn for your projects! With award winning brands like West Yorkshire Spinners, Jamiesons of Shetland, Garthenor Organic, Regia, The Fibre Company and John Arbon; hand dyed yarns from RiverKnits, Life In The Long Grass and Manos del Uruguay - to the breed specific farm yarns from Lancashire Farm Wool, Shear Delight, Crookabeck Herdwick, Icelandic Léttlopi, Armscote wool and Wenning wool - you'll find yarns here you can't buy anywhere else.
